The SID LA Chapter will also be represented at Tannas Electronic Displays, Exhibit booth # 1420, and invites any prospective members to visit for an overview of LA Chapter activities.
Tuesday evening, May 17. 3D film shorts will be exhibited stereoscopically on a special 30-foot silver screen, with featured talks by 3D filmmakers and other members of the rapidly growing industry. Attendance at this session is free for anyone that is registered for the Tuesday-Friday Symposium. The fee for attending only this session is $100 ($15 for full-time Students or Life Members). This fee includes refreshments plus access to both the Symposium Keynote Session on Tuesday morning and the Exhibit Hall, enabling 3D film enthusiasts to see the cutting edge in display technology that is bringing 3D into the home.

Douglas Trumbull, Trumbull Ventures LLC
At the annual SID Luncheon, to be held Wednesday, May 18, 2011, Douglas Trumbull will present his thoughts on current trends in motion-picture and television production and exhibition technologies, with a focus on 3-D, high frame rates, and large-screen presentations, as well as how these technologies relate to the creative process of writing, producing, directing, photographing, and exhibiting science fiction and fantasy films. A legendary filmmaker and visual effects pioneer, Douglas Trumbull was one of the Special Photographic Effects Supervisors for 2001: A Space Odyssey. He went on to become the Visual Effects Supervisor for such classics as Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and Blade Runner, each of which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Visual Effects.
